The Program
The early months of your puppy’s life are an important time to introduce the learning process and begin developing the foundation for future obedience.
At Diamond in the Ruff Dog Training, the Puppy to Adult Program starts with age-appropriate, positive, food-based training. Rather than expecting a young puppy to perform like an adult dog, we focus on helping them learn how to participate in training and begin developing focus.
Around 3½ to 4 months of age, puppies can transition into the adult portion of the program, where training progresses toward obedience and learning to hold commands.
The goal is to guide your puppy through these important developmental stages and prepare them for continued training as they mature.

Choose Your Program
Every puppy and household has different needs. The Diamond Puppy to Adult Program offers two training options, and the right one is discussed during your puppy’s evaluation.
Option 01
Train your puppy at home with Robert’s guidance and continue practicing between lessons.
The puppy stage typically includes four lessons, depending on your puppy’s age when training begins. Lessons are often scheduled every other week to give you time to practice the assigned homework between visits.
As your puppy reaches approximately 3½ to 4 months of age, training can progress into the adult portion of the program, focusing on obedience and holding commands.
Option 02
The Puppy to Adult Board & Train option provides an alternative for families who prefer professional training as part of their puppy’s progression toward adult obedience.
The program begins with the same early-learning approach, using positive, food-based training to introduce the learning process and develop focus. Around 3½ to 4 months of age, the program can progress into adult obedience training.
The appropriate training plan and arrangements can be discussed during your puppy’s evaluation. The standard Board & Train program is a separate program for dogs 3½ months old and older.
